There are many options to get involved—whether it’s helping set up the event, serving food, being a buddy for someone with special abilities, or providing security—we need you! Want to help, but you aren’t sure how?

There are so many AMAZING ways to be involved and serve at Night to Shine.

Below is a description of each serve opportunity.


Buddy Team -

Accompany and assist assigned guest throughout the evening, providing companionship and any assistance they may need during the event. A training will be provided to ensure you feel comfortable with your role and understand how to best communicate with your guest throughout the night.  This team is led by Peninsula Alliance.

Look and Feel Team-

The Look and Feel Team gets the privilege of decorating the prom and creating the ambiance for the event. This team will meet a couple times prior to the event for workshops to make pieces for the decor. They will also work closely with the facilities team to get the event set up and ready by the time doors open for volunteers at 3pm.  Look and Feel Team starts decorating at 9am on the day of the prom. 


Facilities -

The Facilities Team helps setup and tear down the event. There will most likely be two shifts (the setup shift is from 7am until 12pm and then the teardown shift from 9pm until everything is done). 

Royal Treatment Team includes the following 3 teams:

Hair and Makeup - Welcome each guest to a salon station and provide simple styling and pampering to make them feel special.

Shoe Shine - Welcome each guest to a shoe shine seat and provide simple sprucing to make them feel special. 

Crowns and Flowers - This team gets the honor of crowning our Kings and Queens of the Prom and  to present the flowers to each guest.

Hospitality Team includes the following 3 teams:

Welcome Team - Greets Guests with smiles and waves while helping them get to the check location. 

Coat Check Team - Coat check volunteers will receive, hang and retrieve coats as needed by guests. 

Goody Bag Team-  volunteers will assemble guest gifts and ensure each guest receives their gift.


Food Team - 

This team will make sure the food is prepared and set out for the event, refilling over the course of the night and clearing tables as necessary.

Dress/Suit Shopping -

Night to Shine Kitsap hosts three dress and suit shopping events prior to the prom. This team helps collect and display the formal wear for the shopping days. As a volunteer for this area, you get the opportunity to help guests pick out their dress or suit for the night. The team is also looking for seamstresses to help make minor alterations. 

This years dress/tux shopping days are TBD

Response Team includes 2 areas:

Security - This team will work in teams to monitor the main event and outdoor areas helping to ensure a safe and secure environment for all guests and volunteers.

Medical Team - The Medical Team is made up of doctors, nurses and EMTs. They are on site as a precaution to help if a need arises.

Check In Team includes 2 areas:

Registration and Guest Checkin  This team starts working on registration in November 2025. There are multiple opportunities to host registration tables at local special needs events. This team also greets and checks guests in the night of the prom. 

Volunteer Check In - The Volunteer Check In Team is on site at 3pm the day of the prom to help get the 750+ volunteers checked in and to their assigned areas.

Respite Room -

This area is designated specially to honor parents and caregivers for their lifelong commitment to their loved one. Volunteers are needed to assist with crafts, trivia, raffles and overall hosting of this space.  This team is led by Younglife Capernaum.

 Entertainment Team -

This team helps with all the fun elements of the night. Limo rides, karaoke, coloring/games, cookie decorating, etc.
